  3. Please watch where you step – avoid stepping on small plants or a newly planted crops.

  4. Please be kind to our staff. They are from rural communities and primarily do farm work. They are trained in basic hospitality, however, since they understand very few words of English, they may not understand everything you say. In such cases, simple hand gestures are very effective.

PETS

  1. Pets (dogs and cats) may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. However, please discuss the details with the host prior to your arrival.

  2. Ideally, guests are expected to be near their pets most of the time. Pets are not allowed to sleep on the beds. We will provide a separate mat for your pet for sleeping. Kindly carry pet food with you. We can also provide food to your pet upon request, at an additional cost.

  3. We have three dogs, three cows, and two bulls on this farm. Please treat all animals on the farm with kindness, but do not feed them any food or snacks.

WATER & ELECTRICITY

  1. Water for drinking, cooking and bathing comes from our borewell. We test this water once a year to ensure that it is safe for drinking.

  2. For your drinking water needs, please use the water from the Water Filter kept in the kitchen. We use a simple activated carbon filter which removes the physical impurities from water, however, we do not use RO Filtration System.

  3. Please use water wisely. According to the Bureau of Indian Standards (IS 1172:1993), about 180 liters of water per person per day is required for maintaining good health and hygiene (and should be supplied by hotels).

  4. Hot water is available in all bathrooms. Please turn on the water heater about 15 mins before you have a bath, and turn it off as soon as you finish bathing. Water heaters do not have power back-up. In case there is a power outage and you need to have a bath, please inform the attendant and we will provide you with a bucket of hot water.

  5. Electricity supply in our area is (mostly) reliable. However, we do have a few short-duration power cuts every now and then. All fans and light bulbs are on a 5-hour power back-up. Water heaters and refrigerators are not on power back-up.

  6. This farm runs on 100% solar energy. However, solar electricity is available only when the grid is live and during daylight hours. Thus, we request our guests to use the hot water heaters during daylight hours, as far as possible.

After you finish your meal, kindly keep the used plates/ pots/ pans in the kitchen sink so that our staff can clean them later. If any food remains, please transfer the food into small containers, cover the containers with a lid, and put them in the fridge in order to avoid food wastage.

  6. We request all guests to have their meals in the dining room or in the verandah and keep the used plates in the kitchen sink only. In case you have your meals in the open area under the Peepal tree, kindly ensure that you do not litter or keep leftover food and used cutlery in that area. Please bring the food and cutlery into the kitchen and close the kitchen door. Left-over food can attract ants and rodents to your rooms!

SMOKING

  1. Smoking of tobacco is not allowed in the rooms, bathrooms or in the dining area. Smoking of tobacco is allowed in designated areas only.

  2. Do not throw cigarette butts in the verandah, in your rooms, bathroom, or anywhere else on the farm. Please throw cigarette butts in a specially provided cigarette disposal bin/ ash-tray only.

WILDLIFE

  1. Since we are located very close to the forest, you may see a snake or two every now and then. In such cases, do not panic or make any sudden movements. Walk away slowly (do not run). The snake will not harm you or follow you.

  2. Do not attempt to kill or injure any snake. If you try to hit them with a stick or stone, they can attack you in self defense. In the unlikely event of a snake bite, do not panic. Inform the staff/host immediately; anti-venom treatment is available in the nearby government hospital in Paud.

  3. Do not disturb or injure other wildlife such as monkeys, deer, birds, butterflies, frogs, etc.

SAFETY

  1. Please wear footwear every time you step out of your room, and especially when you walk in the farm.

  2. Do not venture out at night (after sunset), since the risk of unknowingly stepping on a snake or getting bitten by other reptiles or insects is greater at night.

  3. When you go out during the day, please keep your valuables in the room and lock the room. We cannot take responsibility for your valuables if you go out and your room is left unlocked.

THINGS THAT ARE NOT IN OUR CONTROL

  1. The local villagers use loud-speakers during events such as weddings, birthdays, cultural events and festivals. In such cases, there is significant noise that can travel a long distance and disturb the guests at the farmstay. During certain occasions such as “Kakad-Aarti” or “Akhand Harinam Saptaha” or “Navratri”, the singing/ music can sometimes continue throughout the night, from 11 PM till 7 AM. We will inform the guests in advance if a booking is made during these festivals. Although these festivals are an important part of Indian culture, the trend of using loud-speakers is a recent phenomenon which is causing significant noise pollution in most parts of India. As people become more aware about the adverse effects of noise pollution, the practice of using loud-speakers on very high volume will hopefully reduce in future. But for now, the noise factor from the village is not in our control. If you are getting disturbed by the loud noise, we can provide you with ear plugs. On the other hand, if you don’t mind the noise and want to take part in the cultural events, please let us know and we will accompany you to the nearby temple/ home so you can participate in the cultural events such as bhajans, kirtans, and other forms of folk and traditional music.

  2. This farm is special and enjoyable mainly because of the forest and wilderness around it. If we want to enjoy nature, we cannot completely keep out other creatures that live in the surrounding ecosystem. Therefore, we cannot fully prevent wildlife from coming into the farmstay area. Although we try our best to keep frogs, rodents and insects away from the farmstay facilities, please don’t be upset if you see any of these creatures around the facilities. In such cases, kindly inform the staff and they will try their best to move the creatures away from the facilities, without harming them.
